“It’s amazing how COVID-19 has for some created an additional hunger for hope in God and for others, their initial hunger for Him. It has shut down the physical building of worship but has illuminated our bodies with so much brilliance. I’ve seen communities come together and leaders that wouldn’t normally cross paths communicate; their postures have been apologetic while being resilient. I have never seen anything like it. Frontline persons are worrying but are also willing. Everyone is just working globally making themselves essential and creating their own front line. We are meeting needs as we have served food, both hot meals and groceries to those in need — it’s just been a blessing to see. It’s a refreshing and renewing feeling knowing that your hands have served so many while filling the heart and body with joy and bringing much joy right back to you personally. It’s instant reciprocity.

It’s been just a little weird not being able to hug and shake hands. Something I still find hard to do, but for the safety of my family I have to remain conscious of the social distance. I really love people..people are my life!

I have also seen the pain of others; from people not being able to celebrate the lives of loved ones at the magnitude they would’ve liked when they have died to parents that would typically have a yard full of kids for the children’s birthday now loosing the birthday momentum. No commencement exercises, proms or Sunday worship services. I’m deeply touched as I think about the seniors that are used to going to church every Sunday that have no clue about social media. They are struggling with how to get on it and wanting to see their pastors minister on a live stream which is something that the younger generation has become accustomed to.

Our world is just a little different now but while we’re socially distancing we should still embrace each other virtually, verbally , spiritually and physically if need be.
